Step 1: Surface cleaning: Remove dirt and dust with a stiff brush

Step 2: Make it dust-free: Make sure the surface is smooth, clean, dry, and dust-free. This improves the adhesion of the primer.

Step 3: Apply B-I-N Aqua: Apply one coat of Zinsser B-I-N Aqua. Please note that Bin Aqua can only be applied to a dry surface (see technical data sheet for more information). Then let the base coat dry for 45 minutes.

Paint the surface

Once the surface is dry, you can apply the top coat of Zinsser Allcoat Interior or Zinsser PermaWhite. Follow these steps for optimal results.

Step 1: Paint preparation: Stir the paint thoroughly. This ensures consistent color and texture.

Step 2: Apply the first coat: Apply the first coat of Allcoat Interior Matt or PermaWhite with a brush, roller, or paint sprayer. Allow this coat to dry for at least 2 hours. Apply a second coat if necessary. Depending on the paint you choose, it will cure in 5 to 7 days (Allcoat Interior Matt) or 7 to 10 days (PermaWhite).

Conclusion: For painting glossy and smooth surfaces, you primarily need a primer with exceptional adhesion. B-I-N Aqua is that primer! It guarantees the same adhesion as the (classic) shellac-based B-I-N, but its low odor and very low VOC content make it a more environmentally friendly alternative.
