A low solvent odour, flexible top coat for use within the Rust-Oleum Fast Balcony System to encapsulate anti-slip aggregates and provide a durable, full gloss finish 

DESCRIPTION The Fast Balcony System Basecoat is a two pack moisture activated polyurethane coating with zero solvent odour, providing a long term waterproofing membrane for protection of balconies.

RECOMMENDED USE The Fast Balcony System is a Balcony and Communal walkway system that is fast-curing (60-90 minutes per coat), hardwearing, resin flooring system, designed towaterproof and provide slip resistance to balconies and walkways.

• Mixing Ratio:   Stir base to even consistency then add one complete unit of activator.Mix well to uniform blend, ensuring base material is worked away from sides and bottom of container.

DRY TIMES BY 20º C/RH 50%

• Dry to recoat: min 1,5 hr, max 3 days

PRACTICAL CONSUMPTION Dependent on surface profile and condition, wastage etc.

SURFACE PREPARATION Concrete must be at least four weeks old, completely dry and free of surface laitance, contaminants, ice, water and previous poorly bonded coatings. Remove grease, oil and all other surface contaminations by alkaline or high pressure (steam) cleaning in combination with appropriate detergents. Sand previous coatings which are in good condition to remove gloss and to roughen the surface slightly. A trial area is advisable to test compatibility with previous coatings. Very smooth concrete or concretewith surface laitance (aweak dusty layer) should be abraded or etched with Rust-Oleum Surfa-Etch 108 to ensure adequate adhesion. The concrete should be thoroughly washed down and allowed to dry after. On poreus substrates first apply BINDER SEALER (3377). Metal surfaces should be cleaned and derusted and coated with METAL PRIMER (3388).

DIRECTIONS FOR USE The use of Dacfill Fleece is recommended for all projects for added strength. Start with the gutter areas. Ensure that the upstand termination detail is cut into the mortar joint on the inside upstand. Precut the reinforcement Dacfill Fleece to fit the edge detail on the balcony. Apply Fast Balcony Basecoat to edge details and reinforcewith Dacfill Fleece. Allowto dry. Mask-off gutters / edge details. Precut pieces of the Dacfill Fleece to the correct width and about 1 meter long. Apply Fast Balcony Grit Coat and reinforcewith fleece (overlap each piece of fleece by 50 mm). Roll with special metal detail roller, blend in the Dacfill Fleece joints then cast white aluminium oxide grits (300 micron) into thewet coating at approximately 1.0 kg/m2 to increase surfacewear, protection and slip resistance.

APPLICATION CONDITIONS Do not apply if rain is imminent.

APPLICATION & THINNING: ROLLER Short/medium pile fleecy roller in conjunction with Finbar roller. Do not thin.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT / SPILLS Thinner 150

REMARKS Overcoating must be carried out within the timescale overleaf otherwise further preparation will be necessary. Protect surface from chair legs, heavy standing objects etc with suitable mats. Not to be used in heavily trafficked areas.
