How to Transform a Vintage Sideboard
ONE MAN'S TRASH IS ANOTHER MAN'S TREASURE!
Treated correctly, old furniture can look stunning – and has much more character than any new, dull-looking piece of furniture. With a little Rust-Oleum furniture paint, you can completely transform an item and customize it to your taste.

Here's how we reworked a vintage sideboard and turned it into a modern, mid-century display.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

- Rust-Oleum Furniture Paint
- Self-adhesive wallpaper
- Brush
- Masking tape
- Measuring tape
- Paint stirrer and paint can opener
- Paint roller and tray
- Scissors
- Screwdriver
- Cleaning cloth
STEPS
1

Thoroughly clean the furniture, remove handles, and apply masking tape to areas you don't want to paint.
2

Take your can of Rust-Oleum paint and stir well.
Furniture paint does not require sanding or priming on most surfaces, so you can achieve results immediately. Using a roller for large areas and a brush for harder-to-reach corners, paint the unit and allow it to dry completely. You may need up to three coats.
3

Measure the area you want to cover with self-adhesive wallpaper and cut to size.
4

Apply your wallpaper, smoothing out any bumps or bubbles with your hand as you stick it.
